(The following information is abstracted from the declassified Historical Reports of the 3084th Aviation Depot Group from 1 Jan 1956 to 31 Dec 1959.)
 

STATION SUPPLY - MISSION

(1 Jan - 30 June 1956)

MISSION

            The Station Supply Officer requisitions, receives, stores, issues and maintains auditable accounts for all Air Force supplies and equipment required and authorized within the 3084th ADG, except AF Class 39-D and Medical.  He prepares reports and correspondence pertaining to supply matters and provides technical supply assistance to all station activities as required.

ORGANIZATION

            The Station Supply Division (SSSS) is assigned within the responsibility of the Commander, 3084th Support Squadron, and under the supervision and control of the Director of Materiel.

            Since prior to the period of this report, and in fact, since the Spring of 1954, the Station Supply Division has been managed by CAPT OLIVER M SEMMES.  CAPT SEMMES arrived at WAFB several months prior to completion of the site construction, and has been instrumental in obtaining a tremendous amount of Air Force equipment with which the 3084th ADG operates.

            The scope of Station Supply activities has grown with the Group.  Responsibilities directly controlled by Station Supply included administration of all Unit Authorization Lists (UAL's) from UAL 6002 through 6013;  all Organizational Clothing authorized in Table of Allowances (TA) 1-21; all Office and Janitorial Supplies; Vehicle and Communications (Ordnance and Signal) spare parts; issue of all field equipment; laundry and dry cleaning of organizational clothing and bedding; issue of bedding; and at the beginning of this historical period, control of publications and blank forms (unclassified).

            In order to accomplish the above tasks, the Station Supply Division is authorized two (2) officers and fifteen (15) airmen in the 64 Supply Career Field, and one (1) civilian in the 70 clerical administrative career field.

(1 July - 31 December 1956)

MISSION

            The Station Supply Officer requisitions, receives, stores, issues and maintains auditable accounts for all Air Force supplies and equipment required and authorized within the 3084th Aviation Depot Group, except AF Class 39-D and Medical, on an informal stock record account designated AFN 2364, as of 1 July 1956.  He prepares reports and correspondence pertaining to supply matters and provides technical supply assistance to all station activities as required.

ORGANIZATION

            The Station Supply Division (SSSS) was assigned within the responsibility of the Commander, 3084th Support Squadron, and under the supervision and control of the Director of Materiel.

            Since the spring of 1954, the Station Supply Officer was Capt Oliver M Semmes.  Capt Semmes arrived at Westover AFB several months prior to completion of the site construction, and was instrumental in obtaining a tremendous amount of Air Force equipment with which the 3084th Aviation Depot Group operates.  He was ably assisted during this past period by 1st Lt Hershal Mitchell from 28 August 1956 and 2nd Lt Robert K Watson from 9 July 1956. Lt Mitchell was transferred from the Operations Squadron on 5 December 1956 after having relieved Capt Semmes as Station Supply Officer on 21 November 1956.

            The Station Supply Division requisitions, receives, inspects, issues, and stores all UAL equipment, janitorial and office supplies, and all other equipment and supplies required by using activities within the 3084th Aviation Depot Group in the performance of their assigned mission (classified equipment excluded).  The Station Supply Division also controls the issue of bedding, organizational clothing and field equipment; and is responsible for the operation of the Expendable Issue Store, laundry and dry cleaning services, and linen exchange.

            The Station Supply Division has the responsibility of maintaining auditable records and files in accordance with AFM 67-1 and other pertinent regulations and or directives; preparing all reports and correspondence pertaining to Station Supply, and providing technical assistance to other Station activities relative to supply matters.

ORGANIZATION

            The Station Supply Division (SSSS); is assigned within the responsibility of the Commander, 3084th Support Squadron, and under the supervision and control of the Director of Materiel.

            During the period of this report, the Station Supply Officer's position has been filled by Captain Hershel Mitchell, who replaced Captain Oliver M. Semmes on 21 November 1956.  Captain Mitchell was promoted to the rank of Captain on 4 April 1957.

            Responsibilities directly controlled by the Station Supply Division, in addition to those outlined in "Mission" above, include the administration of all Unit Authorization Lists (UAL's) from UAL 6000 through 6013; organizational clothing authorized in T/A 1-21; and procurement of vehicle and communication (Ordnance and Signal) spare parts.

            In order to accomplish the tasks as outlined, the Station Supply Division is authorized one Officer, two Civilians and eighteen Airmen.  The Division is subdivided into the following branches: Administration Branch, Property Accounting Branch, Receiving and Warehouse Branch, Expendable Issue Store, and the Unit Supply Branch.

(1 July - 31 December 1957)

            In order to accomplish the tasks as outlined, the Station Supply Division is authorized 1 Officer, 2 Civilians, and 18 Airmen.  The division is subdivided into the following branches: Administrative Branch; Property Accounting Branch; Editing and Publications Branch; Receiving and Warehousing Branch; Local Purchase Branch; Expendable Issue Store; and Unit Supply Branch.

(1 Jan - 30 June 1958)

            In order to accomplish these tasks, the Station Supply Division was authorized 1 Officer, 2 Civilians, and 18 Airmen. The division was subdivided into the following sections: Administrative Section; Property Accounting Section; Editing and Publications Section; Receiving and Warehousing Section; Local Purchase Section; Expendable Issue Store; and Unit Supply Section.
